Phase 1project
The Škoda Auto company has recently changed the badge of its cars – the traditional round company logo has disappeared from the car rear and has been replaced with “ŠKODA” lettering. A new idea was to replace the traditional zinc- coated lettering with a high-gloss black-shade variant.
Phase 2design
Our project partner Lukovplast produced the letters. The lettering not only includes small and big ŠKODA letters, but also the identification lettering of the car type: Kodiaq, Karoq, Superb, Fabia and vRS.
Phase 3implementation
The project aimed to find a suitable paint system resistant to the external influences to which the cars are exposed on the road, and especially to adjust the pre-treatment of the small letters so as to remove even the most minute of impurities from the polished surfaces before paint application. The robotic line was thereby equipped with a dry ice blasting unit for part cleaning. The functionality of the paint system was successfully tested against the requirements of the VW TL 211 standard.
Phase 4realisation
The project will run for a period of 5 years. The painting is performed by the Galatek robotic line, which annually produces around 300,000 pieces of various lettering types.
